Following graduation he moved to Vancouver Island where he practiced general dentistry for over two years.  He was then offered a position by the government of the United Arab Emirates where he practiced general dentistry for four years. Dr Mike Magnusson

Dr. Mike Magnusson started practicing dentistry in the town of Sparwood, BC.  While there, he took full advantage of the East Kootenay rivers and mountains, with much of his time spent snowboarding, fly fishing, and hiking.  Although he enjoyed his work and lifestyle in a rural setting, he ultimately returned to the Lower Mainland where he continued his dental practice as an associate in North Burnaby.  After 7 years of general practice, his interest in endodontics led him to enroll in the graduate program at the University of British Columbia.  While there, Dr. Magnusson focused his research on the effects of irrigation sequence on root canal dentin.  This topic gave him an appreciation for the many aspects that contribute to the longevity of a tooth.  He remains committed to science and believes that innovations in materials, technology and research make this an exciting time for endodontics!

Dr. Magnusson also has a keen interest in music and holds a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance with a major in percussion.  These days when he is not practicing endo (or the drums), you can find him on the water, on his bike or in his running shoes.  He is very happy to be in Victoria, and to be joining the team at Arbutus Endodontics.
